Obituary of Rachel J. Chase

MEDUSA – Rachel J. Chase, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 after a brief illness, with her three daughters by her side. Rachel was born in Preston Hollow on June 26, 1951 to the late Carl A. and Clara Bellinger White. She was employed by the Town of Rensselaerville for the last 20-plus years as Clerk to the Assessor and the Code Enforcement Officer. Rachel enjoyed riding horseback and spending time with her loving family. Rachel was married to her beloved husband Galen for 44 years. He predeceased her on January 23, 2014. Rachel is survived by her four children, Galen B. Chase Jr. (Beth), Pennie Hillicoss (Bill), Hope Bensen (Chris), and Jackie Canastra (Tim); nine grandchildren, Chad, Makayla, Dylan, Kristin, Kassidy, Jack, Tyler, Madilynne, and Connor; her “grandpuppies”, Killian, Ginger and Racer; her siblings, Valerie Lounsbury (Joel), Mary Hulbert (Ike), Linda Warner (Kenneth), and Douglas White (Linda); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was predeceased by her sister, Shirley VanDerbeck, and brother, Harold Bowman. Calling hours will be at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, on Saturday, March 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Medusa Cemetery.
