Obituary of Warren O. Kempf

GREENVILLE – Warren O. Kempf, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn on March 1, 1924, he was son of the late Joseph and Vivian McClennon Kempf. Warren lived in Elmhurst for 35 years and moved to Freehold in 1972. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an aerial gunner. Warren was employed as a serviceman by the former New York Telephone, retiring in 1994. He also served as assessor for the Town of Greenville. Warren was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, a member of Greenville American Legion Post 291 and Our Lady of Knock Council 6439 Knights of Columbus. Warren is survived by his children, Joseph (Terry) Kempf, Paul Kempf, Kathleen (Kevin) Pacuk, and Warren (Pam) Kempf; his daughter-in-law, Ellen Kempf, wife of his late son, Timothy; his former wife of 35 years, Kathleen A. Byrne; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and son, Warren was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Usherwood. Calling hours will be Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville. Burial will be private.
