Obituary of Marilyn C. Nevins

WESTERLO – Marilyn C. Nevins, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 8, 2015, at the residence of her loving son John. Marilyn was born on January 8, 1932 in Brooklyn to the late Thomas and Carrie Graff Scott. She formerly worked at Grumman Aviation in Long Island, at Hartford Insurance Company in Delmar and she also volunteered for many years with the Helderberg Senior Services Center in Westerlo. Most recently she worked in the cafeteria at Greenville Central School, retiring in 2012 at the age of 80. Marilyn was an avid reader and especially loved her Kindle as well as paperback books. She was an excellent cook and loved gardening, traveling with local senior groups and the occasional outing with "the girls" to the Saratoga Racino. Along with her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" Nevins who was the love of her life, her siblings Alfred (late Lillian) and Thomas (Judy) Scott and Ruth Wendel (late Robert) and sister-in-law Marie Domine. Marilyn is survived by her sons, John and Thomas "Toby" (Elaine) Nevins both of Westerlo, her grandsons, Scott and Steven Nevins, her sisters-in-law Betty (late Edwin) Koster and Evelyn (Robert) Smith, her brother-in-law Daniel (Donna) Nevins and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many friends including her special friends, Valerie Komjathy, Ann Werger and Felicia "Flo" Saitta. Marilyn has been cremated and there will be a burial of ashes at a later date. The family would like to thank St. Peter's Community Hospice for all of their help during this difficult time.
