Obituary of James L. Goode

FREEHOLD – James "Jimmy" Goode Sr., 71, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, due to a neuro-muscular disorder. Born in Brooklyn on July 22, 1943, he was son of the late John J. and Eleanor Geary Goode. Jimmy was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired police officer with NYPD, and the owner of Highpoint Furniture Gallery since 1989. Jimmy is a communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, and member of Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Knock Council 6439, and Fourth Degree Assembly 2253; Greenville American Legion Post 291; Ancient Order of Hibernians of East Durham; and NYPD Emerald Society. He was the founder of the Anchor Club NYPD for the Knights of Columbus, former member of the Zoning Board of the Town of Greenville, and past member of the Greenville Rescue Squad. Jimmy was a supportive son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He has left a positive fingerprint on those who knew him. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 50 years and best friend, Marian "Pat" Goode; five children, Patricia Dawn (Tony), Denise Maureen, James Jr. (Nora), Timothy Patrick (Renee) and Kristin Marie (Daniel); seven grandchildren who called him "Pop", "Pop-Pop", and "Popcorn", Jessica, Danielle, David, Taylor, Grace, Leia and Areanna; two siblings, Barbara (Joe) Licata and John (Rachel) Goode; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, with a Knights of Columbus service at 5:30, and the American Legion service at 6:30. Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Knock Shrine, 2052 State Route 145, East Durham, followed by cremation.
