Rosemarie Preisner

Obituary of Rosemarie Preisner

Rosamarie Preisner – "I've lived a good, long life." From her lips to God's ears, a sensible and level headed Rosemarie (Klop) Preisner has lived quite a good life. Rosemarie or "Dutchie", as her friends would call her, passed away peacefully in her home in Freehold, NY on April 20, 2015 surrounded by loving family members. Dutchie was born on March 24, 1930 and grew up in Hoboken, NJ. She spent the summers of her young adult life in Greenville, NY working as a waitress at the Sunny Hill Golf Course and Resort, where she met her husband Gunther Preisner, otherwise known as "Gint". They were married in 1949 and happily shared their lives together for 39 years. In 1956, with their partners Bruce and Marilyn Borwegan, Dutchie and Gint Preisner began B&G Contractors, a successful plumbing and heating business, from the ground up. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Greenville, NY, where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women's group, and volunteered at the UMC Thrift Shop. In her free time, she traveled often, was an avid golfer, enjoyed attending plays at the theater, and played dominoes weekly with her girlfriends. She had many tight-knit, close friends who were near and dear to her heart. As a snowbird, Dutchie spent every winter in her Bonita Springs, Florida home. During the rest of the year, she flew north to Freehold, NY to spend time with her family & friends. She paid close attention to details, especially when it came to remembering those whom she loved or appreciated. Always thoughtful, not a birthday or celebration passed where Dutchie didn't remember a card, present, or a homemade batch of cookies. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, a treasured grandmother, and a dedicated friend to many. Though she is now gone from our lives, she will be forever in our hearts. She is survived by her 3 sons; Richard (Terry) Preisner, Walter (Terriann Willower) Preisner, Douglas (Eleni) Preisner, and her 10 grandchildren; Megan (Michael) West, Jennifer (Greg) Stewart, Jason (Caitlin) Preisner, Kate (Jeff) Jankowski, Danielle (Doug) Overbaugh, Meghan Favicchio, John Bestafka, Bill (Kayla Ragone) Bestafka, Andrew (Jessica Fisher) Preisner, and Alexis Bestafka who knew her as Grandma. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren; Nicholas and Caiden West, Reese and Ava Stewart, Tytan and Laila Overbaugh, and Ezekial Jankowski, to whom she was known as Nana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gunther Preisner, her parents Peter & Rose Klop and her brother, Gary Klop. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11am at the United Methodist Church of Greenville and Norton Hill 5830 State Route 81 Greenville, NY 12083. Family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service at 10am. Burial is to follow in the Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144 or to the United Methodist Church of Greenville and Norton Hill, PO Box 599 Greenville, NY 12083.
