Obituary of Edmund R. Stuven

EARLTON – Edmund R. Stuven, 90, passed away on Friday evening, July 10, 2015 in the Pines at Catskill. Born on May 17, 1925 in Englewood, NJ, he was son of the late Richard and Margarete Stuven. Ed moved from New York City to Earlton at age 11. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany, and was assigned in the motor pool as driver to a high-ranking officer. Following the war, he worked briefly at GE in Coxsackie before going to work as a construction worker on the newly formed New York State Thruway. Ed became a toll collector and retired as a toll station supervisor in the early 1970's. He was a member of Coxsackie American Legion Post, James Austin Masonic Lodge in Greenville and Shriners Cyprus Temple. Ed is survived by several cousins and many friends. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be at 12 noon, followed by burial in the Town of Catskill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations to Shriners Cyprus Temple will be appreciated.
